Odd Couple: Padre Font and Captain Anza's Trip to California Saturday, February 11 • 10 – 11 a.m. • Meeting Room • All AgesIn 1775, Captain Juan Bautista de Anza and Chaplain Pedro Font were given orders to lead several hundred settlers from Sonora into California to colonize San Francisco. This presentation will focus on the fiery relationship between the military and spiritual leaders of the expedition. Presenters JoAnn Herbst and Dave Reiter, Docents at Tumacacori National Historical Park, will be dressed in period costume as they tell the story of clashing values and personalities. |
